FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCIV) — A groom seriously injured in a crash on his wedding night is home recovering, according to the family of the bride.
Aric Hutchinson was one of four on a low-speed vehicle (LSV) struck by an alleged drunk driver on Folly Beach, South Carolina late last month. His bride, 34-year-old Sam Miller (Hutchinson), was killed.
The other three occupants were critically injured, according to Folly Beach Police.
According to Hutchinson's mother on a GoFundMe, her son-in-law and grandson were escorting the couple from the wedding reception on Friday, April 28, when they were struck from behind.
"He is physically recovering at home while trying to come to terms with the loss of his beautiful wife. Now he is doing the unimaginable of planning Sam’s funeral along with her family," she continued.
As for the other occupants, Hutchinson said one is recovering in the burn unit, where he had surgery to address severe road rash and open wounds. A plastic surgeon also addressed his facial stitches and some on his hands. She said he won't be able to return home to Utah until he can put weight on his legs and heal further.
The fourth occupant only suffered minor physical injuries, according to Hutchinson.
Alleged drunk driver Jamie Komoroski, 25, was arrested and charged with three counts felony DUI with death and or great bodily injury and one count reckless vehicular homicide.
